Oftentimes the negativity of others can wear off on us. But the truth is you don’t have to sit around and listen to friends or co-workers murmur and complain all day. If you stay in that environment, it is going to affect your spirit. You may not be able to avoid them every second of the day, but you can limit the access they have to you.

Maybe you need to listen to part of a good teaching during your break. Or maybe you need to take a walk and seek fellowship with God during your lunch rather than join a negative conversation.

The most important thing is to realize that positive, faith-filled words will build your spirit up, but negative words will tear it down. Don’t allow the negativity of those around you to pull you down and take your focus away from the Lord. Fill your life with positive things that build you up and increase your joy.

Prayer Starter: Thank You, Father God, for giving me all the wisdom, power and grace I need, and thank You for Your presence in my life. In Jesus’ name, amen.
