TOPIC: You And Your Family, What Legacy?
TEXTS: Gen 2:18; 21:8-12, 14-21; Ps 112:1-2; 2 Tim 2:2; Titus 2:1-8; 3:8.
A family is the closest and most viable union and relationship between a man (husband) and a woman (wife) built on God’s principles and empowered to procreate.
A legacy is an inheritance handed down by a predecessor to the family members, relations and sometimes friends at the point of death (in most cases).
God’s plan for each family is to build an INSEPARABLE ACQUAINTANCE and a HARMONIOUS RELATIONSHIP between the husband, his wife and their children.
The fall in Eden caused a great deviation from this and since then this relationship has continued to suffer shame, disaster and divorce thus causing unbearable emotional pains in both parties and their offspring as they go through life.
This sad development explains the pu rpose for this study so that we might by God’s Grace restore sanity to falling homes and build the confidence again in each Christian family.
GOD AND THE FAMILY: Psa 133:1; Gen 21:12; Heb 13:4.
God will always guide, direct and instruct on how best you can run your family but will NEVER INTERFERE especially when He is not consulted, recognized and considered as the focal point on which the relationship strives and the axis on which it revolves. Unfortunately, most families that have collapsed attribute their decision as the perfect will of God. What a paradox?
Marriage is honourable and was never intended to be endured but rather enjoyed. The society we see today is a product of various legacies from homes that either mar or make a useful society. Titus 2:6
Adam’s family that was a spectacle to behold Gen 2:22-23 later became a snare to God and humanity. Even their children caused great searching of hearts as Cain, their offspring graduated as the first murderer in human history. Gen 4:1-10
What legacy are you preparing to handover to your children?
NOTE:
The fall out of a mismanaged marriage abounds with heart breaking consequences.
God asked:-
Adam: where are thou? And his response was indicting and questionable. Gen 3:9
Cain: where is Abel thy brother? The response was not too far from what his father answered God. Gen 4:9.
