Bible Study: You And Your Family, What Legacy? – Part Two
TOPIC: You And Your Family, What Legacy? (2)
TEXTS: GEN 30:27-34; 31:13-16; PROV 22:29; 20:4-7, 13; 1 TIM 5:7-8.
MEMORISE: For it was little which thou hadst before I came, and it was now increased unto a multitude; and the LORD hath blessed thee since my coming: and NOW, WHEN SHALL I PROVIDE FOR MINE OWN HOUSE ALSO? Gen 30:30
The price of success is hard work, dedication to the job AT HAND, and determination to reap the best as we apply our hearts to the work.
God blesses every single endeavour of a TITHE PAYING and fully committed man, to abound with abundant yield and plenty harvest.
Every man must think of the welfare and wellbeing of his family, the education of the children, spiritual, health, clothing and general daily provision for the entire home.
It is not enough to have your quiver full of children without any plans and only to have them graduate as misfits in the society ranging from militants, motor park attendants to armed robbers etc.
The social ills in the society are increasingly worrisome. An average city today breeds young boys and girls who have rejected MEEKNESS AND MORALITY and shamelessly embraced MAYHEM and MURDER. This current trend is of great concern not only to the society but also to the church. The obvious question on every lip is what does the future (legacy) hold for our children?
Have you like Jacob pondered over:
When you will start making provision for your family.
How much investment you have made for your family?
Is there any inheritance in case you are not there? What can they fall back on in order to survive and not constitute a societal menace?
Have you inculcated in them the spirit of hard work and dependence on God for great harvest?
How much have you invested in their training?
Is there any social family welfare scheme that guarantees prompt payment of bills such as electricity, water (where applicable), school fees, house rents (where applicable) etc.
Can you meet up with the bills? If not, have you tried scaling your preferences in order to manage the system?

Hymn – My Hope is Built
1. My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
2. When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
3. His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
4. When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh, may I then in Him be found;
In Him, my righteousness, alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.
